Singapore Mandates Pets Must Wear Three-Piece Suits To Curb Unruly Barking
The Ministry of Canine Affairs (MCA), following a comprehensive six-hour review, has declared that all pet dogs must now wear a mandatory, government-approved, three-piece suit while in public. This move, officials claim, is to “uphold the dignity of the HDB common areas.” Fines for ‘unsuitably casual’ pets will start at $2,000.
“The standard issue Poodle look was too disruptive, lah,” explained chief regulatory officer, Mr. Tan. “We need decorum. If the dog must bark, it must be a well-tailored bark.”
Local pet owner, Mdm. Siti, was seen attempting to fit her Chihuahua, ‘General Fluffington,’ into a miniature Savile Row ensemble. “Aiyo, this thing so tight, the dog cannot even pant properly! Last time just let him run, now must check if his tie knot is straight. So stressful, man!” she lamented. The MCA also confirmed that cat ownership permits will now require owners to demonstrate proficiency in reciting the National Pledge while simultaneously balancing a miniature, non-slip yoga mat on their feline’s head. Compliance is expected by Tuesday.
